Class 7c Proudly Presents: The Reading Project -´´Reading books can be fun – even at the end of the school year – and even in English.``

That’s what class 7c could find out with their reading project including a presentation of their books. The students showed a variety of creative methods in their ´´speeches``: some of them gave extracts from their books by reading in front of the class.  -  All books were illustrated with masterpieces of painting which the teenagers also presented to the audience. Others played videos via mobile phone and visualizer or brought along the CD from their book in order to do a listening comprehension test following the “bring your own device” method (BYOD).  The good thing was that not all students had to read the same book in class but everyone could choose his or her favourite one from a collection of truly fabulous books. Many students read not only one but two or three books to the delight of the teacher. One of them read the complete collection from the literature box. But he is a native speaker and a fast reader. Actually the class should have given a two minute talk on their books and posters but the majority showed great motivation and talked even longer. Over a couple of weeks we have met many interesting characters, settings and some of the finest examples of the most well-known world literature like Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, The Secret of the Stones by Victoria Heward, The Happy Prince and The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde, Zorro by Johnston McCully or Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, just to name a few of them.
The intention of our project was to start an advertising campaign for our new English books in our new library which will open its doors next school year.
All of you are invited to find out about these books yourselves. Just go to our new library and ask for the Green Apple and Black Cat collection which the ´´Fachschaft English`` has bought for you. You will get a wide range of good, motivating and sometimes easy readers at your new library. Come and see. The posters from class 7c may help you make your choice where you could start reading. Enjoy, have fun and keep on reading. Go ahead with reading in 17/18. Come and have fun!
We have learnt again that reading leads to everything.
